Oregon Trail Backcountry Byway: Travel the way of the old Oregon Trail

Three Island Crossings: Take a self-guided tour of the park and see the original wagon ruts and Conestoga replicas. Visit the Oregon Trail History and Education Center to learn more about pioneers, early settlers and Native American history. Dangle your feet or a line in the Snake River where emigrants made their historic crossings. Or sit under a tree and enjoy a picnic lunch. Anderson Ranch Reservoir: Managed by the Boise National Forest, the reservoir is approximately 14 miles long, a mile wide, with depths to 315 feet, and 50 miles of shoreline. Hiking, boating, waterskiing, and fishing are the major recreation activities at the Reservoir. There you may find kokanee, rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, and bull trout and fishing season open year-round. gain is 1,500 feet.
CJ Strike Reservoir: C.J. Strike Reservoir is one of the most accessible, family-friendly fishing and camping locations in the state. C. J. Strike is an outstanding fishery for both warm water and cold water species including crappie, bass, catfish, perch, rainbow trout and sturgeon. Golf: Enjoy an afternoon on our local 18-hole premier golf course, Desert Canyon Golf Course.
Disc Golf: Head out to Optimist Park for a round of disc golf on 18 holes that will challenge even the most seasoned player.
Beer & Wine: Visit our local wineries and brewery – Cold Springs Winery, Sweet Briar Vineyard, Y Knot Winery, Blue Pit Brewing.

Walking/Biking: The Mountain Home Walking Path has over two-and-a-half miles of hiking and biking trail. Take the kids or the dogs for a stroll.
Parks: Mountain Home has incredible parks ranging in sizes and amenities, including fishing ponds, play equipment for all abilities and ages, and local monuments.
Fishing/Fly Fishing: Pack up your fishing gear and try your luck at CJ Strike Reservoir, Anderson Ranch Reservoir, the Snake River or the South Fork of the Boise River.
Hunting: This area is a hunting mecca. Get your tag and hunt deer, elk, bear, pronghorn and upland birds.
Wildlife & Birding: Take a drive and watch for eagles, osprey, hawks, sandhill cranes, hummingbirds, bluebirds, and many other species. In the mountains, you can see deer, elk, bear, mountain lions and wolves.
Swimming: The community pool is open during the summer month and is a great place to cool off.
Camping: There is an abundance of camping areas that range in amenities, including year around options.
Snow Sports: There are over 350 miles of trails for snowmobiling in the Trinity Mountains and Fairfield areas. If snowmobiling isn’t your cup of tea, try snowshoeing, sledding, cross country skiing or kite skiing.
ATVing/Dirt Biking: The area has numerous places to ride and explore on an all-terrain vehicle or dirt bike.
Geocaching: There are over a 1,000 caching sites in the local area. Bring your GPS and search for treasures.
